Activities of the Canadian Studies Centre

No description

The Canadian Studies Centre serves as a vibrant hub for academics across the university who are engaged in research and teaching related to Canadian Studies. Our Centre welcomes Canadianists from around the globe, offering a collaborative space for research in the heart of Europe.

We take pride in housing the largest Canadian Studies library collection in Central Europe, providing unparalleled resources and facilitating library access for visiting scholars. Additionally, the Centre hosts the Secretariat for the Central European Association for Canadian Studies (CEACS), fostering a strong network of Canadian studies professionals across the region.

Throughout the year, we organize various events to promote Canadian Studies and culture. Our signature event, Canada Days, is held annually in November during the university-wide Humanities Week. This celebration introduces Canadian Studies to students and the public through a series of engaging talks, Canadian film screenings, and other cultural activities related to Canada.

Furthermore, we host an annual online lecture delivered by a distinguished academic from abroad, bringing global perspectives to our community. As we look to the future, the Centre is committed to expanding its outreach and activities, continually enhancing the academic and cultural landscape of Canadian Studies at Masaryk University.

In addition to the above activities organized by the Canadian Studies Centre, every five years, the Department of English and American Studies at Masaryk University organizes an International Conference of English, American and Canadian Studies, which brings together Canadianists from the Czech Republic and the Central European region as well as the wider world of Canadian Studies internationally.
